The article in Polish was prepared based on the content of the speech delivered at the international conference: Law and Political Economy – Central and Eastern European Perspectives, which took place on March 21, 2022. Title in English: “Chambers of commerce as an interdisciplinary project. Examples of the multidimensional nature of this institution

From the English summary:

“There are 2.35 million enterprises in Poland. However, the existing business organizations associate almost 2% of business entities. They also do not have public-law competences. The result is the lack of representativeness of business circles in the dialogue with public administration and the legislator, which is especially visible in the segment of micro and small enterprises, and ineffectiveness of the opinions reported by the market. The solution is to establish a public-law chambers of commerce.
Designing and building an effective socio-economic institution is a complex process. It requires using tools from a wide spectrum of social sciences. Apart from law, mentioned should be in particular economics, sociology, political science, but also history, international relations, and geography. The interdisciplinary approach is key to the correct identification of the stakeholders of the proposed chambers of commerce, and then necessary to shape its optimal structure and a catalogue of public-law tasks (authoritative and non-authoritative). It is also the right perspective for analysing the current economic, political and administrative challenges.
Finally, it is crucial for the appropriate shaping of member groups so that they guarantee a balanced representation of individual classes of enterprises and industries. Accepted should be the conclusion that in the process of creating the in-titution in question, lawyers should provide professional service rather than play the main role.”
