TIMTED 2025 – International Conference “Current Economic Trends in Emerging and Developing Countries” is organized by the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration Timisoara and East-European Center for Research in Economics and Business ECREB. The conference takes place 22-24.05.2025 in Timisoara, Romania.

Discussion about economy and challenges should always put attention on business and its position in dispute about regulations and policies. It is worth looking at chambers of commerce which establish the platform between companies and policy makers but also support business and in some countries – deliver public services. Chambers should be recognised then as inclusive institutions with a powerful, but usually underestimated potential. A timely topic – take a look at the Nobel Prize in Economics for 2024.

In the presentation entitled: “EVOLUTION OF CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE. Models, challenges and possible directions” we will have a brief look at the ecosystem of these important but rarerly discussed or researched business environment institutions. We will start with a quote of Chris Mead: “If business doesn’t have a voice, it doesn’t have a future. Chambers are logical channels for that voice.(…) We need to distill the best of the past and take it forward.” And then after a short description of models, we will point the changes in the global economy and recent Nobel research as the reasons and need for chambers to evolve.
